Checking In
All students checking in to Cornell housing MUST sign off on either a paper or online Room Inventory & Condition (RIC) form, indicating that you have reviewed the inspection conducted by your Residential Advisor (RA) to identify any pre-existing damage to you room.
Reviewing this inspection and indicating any damage your RA may have missed is VERY important to avoid being charged for damage you did not cause.
Instructions:
- Click on the link below these instructions, and sign in using your Cornell NetID and password. (If you need assistance with your NetID or password, visit cit.cornell.edu/identity or call 607-255-8990.)
- You will see a welcome screen with information about how to contact us should you encounter problems. Click “Proceed.”
- Your room inspection information will appear on the next page. In the “Status” field, click on “Review Required."
- Carefully review the list of items and their associated condition and comments. (If you need to, you may print out this screen and then return to the online form later.)
- At the top of the page, select an answer to the question “Have you reviewed your inspection?” (The options are “I am still reviewing this inspection” or “Yes, I have reviewed the inspection.”) Using the "comments" box, describe any damage not already noted in the inspection. Next, contact your RA to confirm this damage.
- Click “Save.” You may then log off.
• Review your online Room Inventory & Condition (RIC) status here.
Checking Out
Damage responsibility:
Room damage that no roommate(s) takes responsibility for will result in all roommates being charged equally for damage costs. If you wish to to take responsibility for damage, you must notify your Residence Hall Director or Assistant House Dean via email by 5pm on the last day of classes. All room occupants should be cc’ed on this email. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to obtain written documentation from your roommate(s) for any specific damages they cause.
Damage appeals:
If you feel you have been mistakenly or unfairly charged for damage to you room, you may send a damage appeal (a written description of your situation and concerns) to res_damage_appeals@cornell.edu by July 15. Appeals will be accepted ONLY from residents.

Dump & Run Moving out, and don’t know what to do with all that extra stuff in your room? Can’t fit it all in the car? Just don’t want it anymore?
Don’t throw it away - give it away! Place those items in the Dump & Run collection boxes located in every residence hall, community center, and many other locations on campus over the last several weeks of the spring semester. Donated items will be sorted over the summer, then sold at a giant yard sale during Orientation Weekend. All proceeds from the sale benefit local charities.
We
WILL take food, clothing, electronics, hangers, decorations, books, and more! We will
NOT accept underwear, socks, bedding, foam pads, or trash.
