If cultures rich in history and dynamic with current events intrigue you, then why don't you consider making the Latino Living Center (LLC) your home at Cornell? You will live among students of varying Latino ethnicities and others from mixture of cultural backgrounds. A common bond of appreciation for the values of Latino heritage - respect for individuals, a dedication to education, a commitment to community, and the importance of family - link residents.

A sign stating ''Bienvenidos A Su Casa'' , welcome to your home, greets each of the 57 residents as they arrive on campus each semester. It truly is more than just a place to live, LLC becomes a ''home'' with all the comforts provided by a strong, familial environment - that is the Latino way!

Founded in 1994, LLC is one of the newest program houses on campus and is growing with popularity each year. The center is located in Anna Comstock Hall on North Campus, across the street from Risley Residential College and a short walk from Robert Purcell Community Center. LLC has it's own kitchen, as well as a library, computer room, TV/social lounge, study, and laundry facilities.

Residents of LLC are encouraged to become aware of and discuss the numerous issues facing Latino communities in the United States and throughout the world. This interaction between first-year, upperclass students, and faculty often results in long-lasting mentor relationships.

Programs and activities supplement these mentorships by helping students balance their studies with social activities. Residents are involved in organizing the Center's events by working collaboratively with the staff, faculty, and the Latino Studies Program. The Café Con Leche weekly discussion series, annual retreats, community dinners, intramural sports clubs, and Hispanic Heritage Month festivities are some of the traditional events. While dances, movie nights, faculty dinners, and various celebrations including Dia de los Muertos, and the Day Hall Takeover Commemoration Week are scattered throughout the semester. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail us!

As in most Latino families, the bonds of these residents are strong. In fact many maintain meaningful relationships with friends, faculty and alumni of LLC long after graduation.
