First-Year Undergraduate Housing

Welcome, new students!

Cornell’s first-year students live in residential communities on north campus – close to two active community centers, three dining halls, and two athletic facilities, and within a short walk to academic buildings on central campus.

Students may choose to live in traditional residence halls, or in one of Cornell’s nine Program Houses.  If you want to live in Balch Hall (for first-year women only), the Townhouse Community, or in a specific Program House, you may request a specific building.  If you prefer to live in any of the other residence halls on north campus, your building and room will be assigned to you.

Use the links to your right to decide which residential experience is best for you.  On-campus housing is guaranteed to all first-year students who meet our application deadlines, and every effort will be made to accommodate your preferences.
