Cornell Dining takes it's social responsibility seriously. Since 2002, we have partnered with Seattle's Best, one of the leading suppliers of Fair Trade Coffee, with the goal of offering fair trade coffee to our customers.
Beneficial Impacts of the program:
* Sustainable agriculture is applied through coffee pulp composting, crop rotation, minimizing fertilizers, terracing and reforestation.
* Polycrops provide food security and income for farmers
* 85% of fair trade coffee is shade grown, which means ecosystems and habitats remain intact and biodiversity levels high.
* Economic activity is often associated with community stability
